Greetings & Salutations
Hello All. My name is Bronwyn. I am writing a term paper in folk lore on a story I grew up hearing from my father. I am looking for gray hairs or children of gray hairs who were around when the land of the sun was started. I am not sure on the date of the events but it has to do with a man by the Name of Thomas ap Thomas Thorhime Krackens Bane (I am really not sure on the spelling) and a war hammer named fist of god. If you know any of the following lords, My father says that they were around or in charge at the time and may know the story I am looking to research. And if you know any SCA Bards who know of the "no shit there I was stories" who might know this stuff. Please please please if you can help me with this I am in desperate spot with this.

Cross posted from my College's list...
The SCA 2010 Census is now LIVE!
The SCA is us, you and me doing what we do. But who are we, what do we do, and how can we support each other to make the SCA the type of organization we can be proud of?
The SCA 2010 Census committee has been asked by the Board of Directors to develop a census-level survey that will help us to address key issues facing the SCA. These issues affect our everyday experience in the SCA; from "pay for participation" issues and award structures to quantitative, qualitative, motivational, and behavioral demographics such as age, gender, activities and interest areas, and reasons for joining, remaining in, and leaving the SCA.
Because this is a "census-level" survey, we are attempting to reach each and every SCA participant, regardless of whether or not they are paid members or are currently active. Everyone's voice is important to the success of this project.
This information will help us, as an organization, move forward into the next decade, to identify, address and work on current issues and gain a better, deeper understanding into what makes the SCA what it is today. Your responses to these questions will also help us create a plan for making the
SCA better organization in the future. The only way we can understand what is important is by hearing from you.
The survey is completely anonymous, you will never be asked for information that will identify you.
The SCA 2010 Census Survey is available here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/%20s/SCA2010Census
The Survey will remain open until December 1st. Once the data collection is completed, the results of this survey will be made available on the SCA 2010 Census website. All data that is collected or published will remain completely anonymous and will not be sold or shared beyond this survey's
If you would like to learn more about the SCA 2010 Census, if you have questions or ideas about the project, please contact the committee at scacensus2010@ sca.org
Please take the time to fill out the survey. The voices of each and every participant in the SCA whether you are currently active or not, will help us to better understand the SCA and enable us to grow and flourish as an organization.

A&S Classes at Southern Crusades XII (Atenveldt)
Good Gentles All,
It is now four months until Southern Crusades
, which is a third of a year. That seems a long time, but it will pass before we know how. It is, therefore, time to start thinking about what class you can teach at the Southern Crusades XII. You know that thing you do, which people are always asking you how it's done? You could teach a class in it. You know that thing people are always asking you to do for them? You can teach a class in that, too. That thing that you're sitting there, thinking now, "Should I teach a class in that?" The answer is yes.
The A&S sessions will run on Friday, the 12th of November 2010, and Saturday, the 13th of November. When you write to let me know what you'll be teaching, please also let me know if you prefer to teach on Friday or Saturday; during the morning or afternoon.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and contribution to the continuance of knowledge in this current Age of Chivalry!

Newcomer Forum at Collegium
Newcomer Forum at Collegium!
Everyone is invited! This is not a lecture class, this is an informal open forum. I have the room for 2 hours on Sunday morning, so please feel free to drop in at any time during the class, and to come and go as you like.
The main purpose of this forum is to help orient newcomers to the society, and help you get involved in all those things you see and hear about. Bring your questions and concerns, no matter how big, small, odd or obscure. Bring your ideas for projects and your enthusiasm!
I'd also like to extend a special invitation to all current, former and future Chatelaines/Hospitallers/Gold Keys and their deputies to join us. One of my goals is to discover how we can better serve our newcomers, while sharing resources and ideas with each other as well. It will also give us a chance to meet and support each other.
So whether you've been in the SCA for 4 days or 4 decades, please consider dropping by the Newcomer Forum at Kingdom Collegium!
No class fees, no class limits, open door!

Please excuse a shameless plug for those interested, as the SCA is filled with folks that enjoy reading books...http://community.livejournal.com/historybookclub/
I made a new LJ community for those of us who like to read and make discussions on historical non-fiction and historical fantasy books - especially books in period for the SCA - as I could not find an appropriate community to otherwise join for such a thing.
If you are interested, please join and share your comments about your favority history books!
